Today in the One Year Bible we read from Matthew 15:1-28. Jesus tells the religious leaders that what they say matters far more than what they eat or how they eat it. He says that we reveal what's in our hearts by what we say.
Some people just spit out words as they occur to them without thinking. They criticize other people constantly and never say things to build them up. It's important for us to learn to stay quiet when we don't have positive things to say about people. And to be quick to praise others and slow to criticize.
Out of our hearts flow our words. What do your words reveal?
God, thanks for showing us to watch what we say.
