Today in the One Year Bible we read from Matthew 15:9-16:12. Jesus fed 5000 people with just a couple fish and some bread in our reading two days ago. In today's reading the disciples once again don't know how to feed the hungry people. And then they don't understand Jesus's simple parable about yeast. Pretty dumb, huh?
But we're even dumber today. Because we have the advantage of the gospels to read and learn, but we're just as slow to trust God to meet our needs and help us to feed the hungry.
BTW if you would like to put your money where their mouth is (hungry people), here is a great way to do it. My good friend Tom Cottar feeds thousands of hungry kids in the Austin area every week. He could use your help ($10/mo goes a long way!) in feeding even more hungry kids and get them off the waiting list.
God, thanks for reminding us that even though we can be dumb we can still make a difference today and feed hungry kids.
