the teachings of the church

We read these verses today in the One Year Bible:

Proverbs 17:23

Peter faces some trouble when the religious leaders are confusing the people. So he and the other disciples do what will come to be called councils in future generations. They pray, refer to the Bible, and make new decisions about what Christians should do. 

The catholic church has collected these teachings over the last 2000 years and that's how they continue to teach us, in agreement with the Bible, how to live our lives as followers of Jesus.
