In the One Year Bible reading for today, we see these verses:
1 KINGS 3:3-4:34
ACTS 6:1-15
PSALM 126:1-6
PROVERBS 16:26-27
ACTS 6:1-15
PSALM 126:1-6
PROVERBS 16:26-27
In Acts, Stephen is about to become the first Christian martyr. It doesn't happen in today's reading, though. What we DO see in today's reading is Stephen speaking the truth in love. He's speaking to the crowds and to the religious leaders. The leaders are jealous of all the attention this new group is getting, so they're looking for reasons to kill them. But no one can refute the truth that Stephen speaks. And when they look at his face, it's like an angel.
When you're online in a discussion with someone, be sure to speak the truth. I've noticed that those who argue against the truth are unable to refute it, so they start attacking the speaker instead (like they did Stephen!)
But make sure you speak it in love. Partially because the person you're speaking to might actually hear what you're saying and change their mind (it does happen!) And partially because you never know who else might be reading your conversation and will be positively affected by the way you answer those who attack your faith.
God, thanks for teaching us to speak the truth in love - like You always do.
