We read these verses today in the One Year Bible:
1 KINGS 2:1-3:2
ACTS 5:1-42
PSALM 125:1-5
PROVERBS 16:25
ACTS 5:1-42
PSALM 125:1-5
PROVERBS 16:25
We read a scary story in Acts. A man and his wife sell some land and donate the money to the Apostles and their community. But they lie about it, saying that they donated ALL the money when they kept some back. They are each struck down dead for lying to God.
In our lives today, it can be easy for us to fall into deceiving ourselves and trying to deceive God in regards to our sins. Because we don't really wanna talk about or face the bad things we've done. So we use nicer sounding words to describe our sins, or if it scares us enough, we even invent alternative stories to what really happened.
But God is not deceived. How are we going to be honest with God if we're lying to ourselves? Well, fortunately God helps us. He will call your sins to mind and help you remember exactly what happened so that you can confess it, be forgiven, and be redeemed from it.
So I encourage you to ask Him to do this. Ask Him to bring your sins to mind, then confess them and receive His forgiveness. That's one of the reasons I love being catholic. Going to confession is such a healing experience.
God, thank You for helping us be honest with ourselves - and with You.
