Today in the One Year Bible we read these verses:
2 Samuel 2:12-3:39
John 13:1-30
Psalm 119:1-16
Proverbs 15:29-30
John 13:1-30
Psalm 119:1-16
Proverbs 15:29-30
In John, Jesus is washing His disciples' feet, setting an example of servant leadership for them (and us) to follow. Peter starts arguing with Him, first saying He shouldn't wash Peter's feet, then saying He should wash his hands and head, too. Jesus patiently tells him why He's doing it.
We like to tell God how to do His job today, too. We think we know better than He does when it comes to our lives and families. But if we'll be humble, like Jesus was teaching His disciples to be, and listen to Him, He'll make our lives much better than we can imagine.
God, thanks for teaching us to listen to You and not try telling You how to do Your job.
