In the One Year Bible, we read these verses today:

Proverbs 14:28-29
We see in John that Jesus tells the man He just healed to stop sinning or something worse will happen to him. And that, in a nutshell, is why we should avoid sin. Yes, our sins offend God, but the main reason is because He loves us and He knows that our sins hurt us. He wants us to live life abundantly, not full of sins that weigh us down and make our lives miserable.
So confess your sins and turn away from them so that your life can be full and abundant like He intended.
God, thanks for teaching us why we should avoid sin.
