no one ever spoke the way this man does

 We read these verses in the One Year Bible today:

1 Samuel 14:1-52
John 7:31-53
Psalm 109:1-31
Proverbs 15:5-7 

In John, we read a profound quote. The people who were considering arresting Jesus said, "No one ever spoke the way this man does." And that makes sense, since the man they're talking about is Jesus. And the first few verses of John tell us that Jesus spoke and created everything that exists. So when Jesus speaks, it is a creative act. He speaks things into existence.

God, thanks for the words that Jesus spoke - and is still speaking today.
