may we be one

Today in the One Year Bible, we read these verses:

2 SAMUEL 13:1-39
JOHN 17:1-26
PSALM 119:81-96
PROVERBS 16:6-7

In John, Jesus prays directly for you and me! And what He prays, we should take to heart. He prays that we would be one, as He and the father are one.

Now if you look around in the world today, we are NOT one. There are hundreds of different denominations and traditions practicing Christianity in different ways. 

Let's pray with Jesus that we'll be one. Let's work toward ecumenical dialog so we can try to be closer to one than we are now. Let's love the people in the other groups and pray that they find the fullness of truth. Let's work toward making Jesus's prayer come true. 

God, thank You for calling us to be one, as You and Jesus are one. Help us work toward that end.
