come and see

 Today in the One Year Bible we read these verses:

Judges 13:1-14:20
John 1:29-51
Psalm 102:1-28
Proverbs 14:15-16 

Let's look at John. We see a theme repeated here, and it's worth noting and thinking about. Some of John the Baptist's followers hear John say that Jesus is the Lamb of God, and they start following Him. He asks what they want and then tells them, "Come and see." 

Later in the same reading, Philip is telling Nathanael about Jesus and tells him, "Come and see."

That's what Christians have done throughout history, and that's what you and I should do today. Invite people to come and see what we're doing. What mass is like. What work the church is doing throughout the world to help the poor. Come and see all that's happening, and when your heart is moved by the beauty and love you see there, come and join us.

God, thanks for inviting us to come and see. Help us to invite other people to do the same.
