do whatever He tells you

 Today in the One Year Bible, we read these verses:

Judges 15:1-16:31
John 2:1-25
Psalm 103:1-22
Proverbs 14:17-19 

In John, we see Jesus performing His first recorded miracle. He is at a wedding with His disciples and with His mother Mary. Notice that He already had disciples even though He hadn't done any miracles yet. They followed Him due to His teaching. Mary had probably seen Him do some miracles, though, because when the wine ran out, she told Jesus to do something. 

Then she said something that we should all adopt as a best practice. She said, "Do whatever He tells you." This should be what we practice in our lives, and this should be what we advise other people to do. Many people find it hard to give Mary the respect that she deserves. But we would all do well to learn from her words: "Do whatever He tells you."

God, thanks for teaching us to do whatever Jesus tells us.
