when salvation comes to your house

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

Joshua 16:1-18:28
Luke 19:1-27
Psalm 87:1-7
Proverbs 13:11

Let's look at Luke. Jesus goes to the house of a notorious sinner named Zacchaeus, who was a tax collector. He had grifted lots of money from the people whose taxes he had collected. But Jesus changed all of that. Jesus made the first move, you might notice. Zacchaeus promises to pay back the people he cheated AFTER the grace of God moved in his life.

That's an important thing for us to remember, both for our own lives and for other people. God is pursuing US, and will give us His grace and mercy in order to prompt us to repent of our sins and draw closer to Him. One thing you can do for yourself and for other people is pray that God's grace and mercy will pour into your/their life so that you/they will be prompted to respond in repentance and drawing close to God.

God, thanks for showing us that YOU are the one who saves us, and You do it while we are yet sinners.
