nothing is impossible with God

 Today we read these verses in the One Year Bible:

Joshua 15:1-63
Luke 18:18-43
Psalm 86:1-17
Proverbs 13:9-10

Let's look at Luke. Jesus says that it is very hard for rich people to enter the kingdom of heaven. The disciples are shocked and ask who then can be saved. Jesus says, "What is impossible with man is possible with God."

The Bible DOES tell us that nothing is impossible with God. And we usually take that to mean "Yeah! I can get that really good job!" or "Exactly! I can buy that new car I've been wanting!" 

But what God actually enables us to do is often different. With God, we can suffer patiently when we get sick. We can make it through the sadness that comes when we lose a loved one. We can hang in there and find a new job when we lose our previous job that we loved.

Sometimes God DOES help us do cool new things. But often, the thing that is "not impossible with God" is making it through the rough times in life. So next time you're suffering, ask for His help. He knows how to help you. And nothing is impossible for Him.

God, thanks for teaching us what is not impossible for You.
