Today we read these verses in the One Year Bible:

Let's look at Luke. Jesus tells His listeners (and us) that we need to be very careful about looking down our noses at "sinners". He says two men go to the Temple to pray. One brags about all the good things he's done and thanks God that he's not like the sinner he sees nearby. The sinner nearby beats his breast and asks God to forgive him for his sins. Which man do YOU think went home justified?
It's easy to look down our noses at those who are caught in serious sin. Drug addicts, prostitutes, politicians... but we need to remember that those people need Jesus like we do. In fact, we probably need Him even more than they do because we have to get over our pride to ask Him to help us.
God, thanks for reminding us to stay humble when we come to You.
