our relationships are different

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

Numbers 28:16-29:40
Luke 3:23-38
Psalm 62:1-12
Proverbs 11:18-19

Let's look at Luke. It's very simple and straightforward. It lists the genealogy from Joseph, who was Jesus's adopted father, back to Adam. And when it gets to Adam, it says, "The son of God."

So Adam was a son of God. He made him out of dirt and breathed life into him. Jesus was also the Son of God, but in a different way. He was begotten of God, and was God Himself. You and I are sons and daughters of God, too. We're His children, even if we are far away from Him.

Just like Adam is a different kind of son than Jesus, and they're both different from us, so our relationships with God are different. We all relate to Him in the way that best suits our minds and personalities. For example, God tells me jokes. He probably doesn't tell everyone jokes. Bishop Barron has said that God never speaks to him in a mystical way. But God HAS spoken to me mystically many times, including calling me to be a writer. Some of us are more cerebral. Some are more emotional. Some of us are called to teach the things that He shows us. Some of us are called to tell sinners to repent and come back to God. Our personalities reflect the way that God interacts with each of us, and that interaction is reflected in what He calls us to do.

How does God interact with you? What is He calling you to do? If you don't know, ask Him.

God, thanks for dealing with all of Your children in the best way according to the way You made them.
