when you've got bad leaders: One Year Bible Reading for December 4

 Today we read these verses in the One Year Bible:

Daniel 11:36-12:13
1 John 4:1-21
Psalm 123:1-4
Proverbs 29:2-4 

Let's look at the proverb. It says that, "When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice. When the wicked rule, the people groan." We've had some wicked rulers in the world, haven't we? I mean, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot... and some more modern examples that don't need to be named but we all know when we have groaned under certain leadership.

That's why it's important to pray for our leaders. That God will put GOOD men and women in positions of authority, to enact laws and enforce them in such a way as to make "the people rejoice."

Good laws and good justice will do that. Bad leaders will make us groan. Let's pray for some good ones.

God, thanks for teaching us to pray for leaders that will make us rejoice.
