the best music you've never heard: One Year Bible Reading for December 24

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

Zechariah 6:1-7:14
Revelation 15:1-8
Psalm 143:1-12
Proverbs 30:24-28

Let's look at the book of revelation. We see that "those who were victorious over the beast and its image and the number of its name" were given harps by God Himself and they sang a song of His praise.

Now, I'm not a fav of harps. I don't like harp music, personally. It's just a personal preference. But the writer of Revelation had never seen an electric guitar. So I'm kind of hoping that those who "are victorious" are given guitars to praise Him with rather than harps, and that was just the best way he knew to describe it.

But whether God gives us harps or guitars, one cool thing to think about heaven is you'll have forever to practice. You'll be able to play every instrument better than anyone who ever lived. Even if you're not musically inclined, if you practice playing the clarinet for 1000 years, you're gonna get good at it. And you can spend that much time with every instrument and play them all perfectly.

Heaven is going to be full of some amazing music. I can't wait to hear it.

God, thanks for having things prepared for us that we can't even imagine - and few that we kind of can.
