sharpening one another: One Year Bible Reading for November 14

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

Ezekiel 29:1-30:26
Hebrews 11:32-12:13
Psalm 112:1-10
Proverbs 27:17

Let's look at the proverb. It's a good one! "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." And this is so true. We should keep in mind that the sharpening process is not always comfortable! When two good minds come together and get to sharpening one another, it's gonna knock some things off of your iron that you might feel attached to. But in order to be a sharp thinker, you need to lose the things are not to the point.

So let's be sure to use the oil of love when we sharpen one another, so that the sparks don't start a fire.

OK, enough with the metaphors.

God, thanks for reminding us to sharpen each other - and to do it in love.
