wisdom seems like remembering: One Year Bible Reading for September 27

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

Isaiah 51:1-53:12
Ephesians 5:1-33
Psalm 69:19-36
Proverbs 24:7

Let's look at the proverb. It says, "Wisdom is too high for fools: in the assembly, they must not open their mouths."

And that reminds me of something (see what I did there?) regarding wisdom. When you hear something wise, it doesn't seem like you're learning something for the first time. It often seems like you're being REMINDED of something you already knew on some level.

And the wisdom of the proverb today relates to the wisdom in the quote above by Euripides: To the fool, he who speaks wisdom will sound foolish. That's why the "block" feature on FB is so handy. When you share something profound or deeply wise on FB and someone replies with the laughing crying face, it might be time to consider the block feature. Remember: don't cast your pearls before swine.

God, thanks for teaching us that wisdom sounds like remembering to the wise, and like foolishness to fools.
