We Are Called to do the Impossible: One Year Bible Reading for September 25

 Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

Isaiah 45:11-48:11
Ephesians 4:1-16
Psalm 68:19-35
Proverbs 24:3-4 

Let's look at Ephesians. Paul tells us, "Live a life worthy of the calling you have received." And that is impossible.

We are called to perfection. We are called to be holy, like God is holy. We are called to be saints. Are you a saint? Do you always do the exact right thing? And for the right reason? Are you always perfectly loving and kind and patient and forgiving?

I know I'm not.

But that's the goal. That's what we're aiming for. We are called to live an impossible life. Thankfully, we're not relying on our own strength or ability or intelligence to do this impossible thing.

Because with God, all things are possible.

God, thanks for giving us an impossible calling - and helping us achieve it.
