Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:
Ecclesiastes 4:1-6:12
2 Corinthians 6:14-7:7
Psalm 47:1-9
Proverbs 22:16
Let's look at 2 Corinthians. God tells us to be holy. He says to turn away from everything that contaminates mind and body, and strive to be holy. And as you can see in the verse in the picture above, the reason for this is to be like God. We want to be LIKE God so that we can be WITH God. He wants to be our God, and for us to be His people. And the only way that can happen is if we become holy.
Is that easy?
Of course. Just choose to be holy and boom, you're holy.
Just kidding. It's hard. It'll probably take you a lifetime. But there are two reasons not to be worried. One, the only way you'll fail is if you give up. And two, God will absolutely help you to achieve this goal. Just ask Him. He wants you to achieve holiness far more than you ever will.
God, thanks for teaching us why we should be holy.
