Who to Trust: One Year Bible Reading for August 1

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

2 Chronicles 30:1-31:21
Romans 15:1-22
Psalm 25:1-15
Proverbs 20:13-15

Let's look at the Psalm. It is very simple and gives us very profound wisdom for life today. It says, "In You, Lord my God, I put my trust."

That's who we should trust. Don't trust the Democrats OR the Republicans. Don't trust the government. Don't trust Ukraine OR Russia. Don't trust China or North Korea, but also don't trust the American government. Those are all powers made up of individuals who are not entirely trustworthy. It's good to remind yourself that God alone deserves our deepest trust. He is the one who always has your best interests in mind. He WILL work everything for your good. Not your preferred political party.

So let's remember that as we go into the fall. As all of the politicians try to get us to trust them. Now don't get me wrong, not ALL people in the government are lizard people intent on world domination. Some of them, I think, really are trying to make the world better. But that doesn't mean I wholeheartedly trust them. Not even the good ones.

Trust God.

God, thanks for reminding us Who we should trust.
