Was He-Man a Musician?: One Year Bible Reading for July 14

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

1 Chronicles 16:37-18:17

Romans 2:1-24

Psalm 10:16-18

Proverbs 19:8-9

Let's look at 1 Chronicles. We see that the Temple is up and running, and people have been assigned their places to bring the offerings before God. Someone named Heman was one of the musicians. That gives us quite an image, doesn't it?

But it's interesting to see that the work in the church of God has been going on since thousands of years ago. People were singing His praise with instruments (like trumpets and cymbals) many millennia ago. Like we say in the mass, "From age to age you gather a people to yourself, so that from east to west a perfect offering may be made to the glory of your name."

Don't worry about the church. He-man (and millions of others like him) will keep the church going until the end of time. Nothing the world does can stop that.

God, thanks for gathering a people to Yourself.
