Don't Forget the Poor: One Year Bible Reading for July 13

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

1 Chronicles 15:1-16:36
Romans 1:18-32
Psalm 10:1-15
Proverbs 19:6-7

Let's look at the proverb. It's talking about the poor, and it's a sad truth. It says, "The poor are shunned by all their relatives, how much more do their friends avoid them!" Jesus made it clear that we should help the poor. He said whatever we do for them, we are doing for Him. So let's not neglect Jesus! At the very least, say a prayer for the poor today. But there is so much you can do! Find out how to get involved in your community and volunteer in a soup kitchen or carry some gift cards for Subway or McDonalds in your wallet so when you run across a homeless person, you can give them food. God, thanks for reminding us to take care of the poor - and thanks for always taking care of them Yourself.
