Warn Nations, Not Just People: One Year Bible Reading for July 12

 Today we read in the One Year Bible these verses:

1 Chronicles 12:19-14:17
Romans 1:1-17
Psalm 9:13-20
Proverbs 19:4-5

Let's look at the Psalm. We see that the writer is praying and telling God to hold nations accountable for what they've done. "Let the nations be judged in your presence: Strike them with terror, Lord. Let the nations know that they are only mortal."

While there IS a personal aspect to our faith, there is DEFINITELY  a community aspect to it as well. In this life, we will be blessed or judged along with the nations in which we live. That's one of many reasons why it's so important to pray for the nations. Pray for good leaders. Vote! Try to work as salt and light in your community to make the world - and your country - a better place. 

God, thanks for teaching us that nations - and not just individuals - will be blessed and judged.
