Today in the book In Caelo et in Terra, we read about St Longinus. Longinus was the soldier who pierced the side of Jesus with a spear. When the blood and water flowed from His side, some splashed into the eyes of Longinus, healing the blindness he was beginning to succumb to. When Jesus died, Longinus declared, "Surely this was the son of God." He went on to live a Christian life after that moment. You can read more about him here.
Everything that Jesus did, even the things that happened TO Him, brought life and healing to the whole world. Let's pray that His sacrifice will open the eyes of those living in sin today.
God, thanks for the story of this soldier turned Christian. St Longinus, pray for us.
