Blessed Josefa Naval Girbes: Buried as a Carmelite

Today we celebrate Blessed Josefa Naval Girbes. From a young age, she was serious about her faith. Her mother died when she was 13, and she adopted Mary as her mother from that moment forward. She joined the third order of Carmelites and took vows of celibacy and obedience.

She worked with the poor and lived a holy life, demonstrating to her friends and family the joy that can be found in following Jesus. When she died, she was buried in the third order Carmelite habit that she wore as a matter of attaining holiness. You can read more about her here.

How do you want to be remembered when you're gone? Is your life demonstrating holiness, like Blessed Josefa? If not, you're in good company. But you can ask God to help you, and He'll make you holy. That's what He does.

God, thanks for the great example of this holy girl. Blessed Josefa Naval Girbes, pray for us.
