Blessed Frederic Janssoone: God's Salesman

Today we celebrate Blessed Frederic Janssoone. He was from a Flemish family, hence his name. But he was born in France, and lost his father at a young age. He became a traveling salesman to support his family. He learned skills that later helped him in his work for Jesus.

He soon became a Franciscan. He worked in Europe for a time, and then was sent to Canada. He helped to encourage Marian devotion, and helped to strengthen the church in Canada, using sales techniques to raise money for the churches. His greatest desire, he said, was to be with Jesus. After seventy-seven years of faithful service, he finally got his wish. You can read more about him here.

What skills have you learned in "the world" that you can use for Him?

God, thanks for the example of this man who used what he knew to serve You. Blessed Frederic Janssoone, pray for us.
