Today in the book In Caelo et in Terra, we read about St Paulinus of Nola. He was governor of his town when he was in his twenties, got married, and had a child. The child died after a few days, and the couple began selling their possessions and giving the money to the poor. After his wife died, he became a priest and then a bishop. You can read more about him here.
St Paulinus didn't let the sad circumstances in his life get him down. When his child died, he started giving more to the poor. When his wife died, he became a priest. Every time something bad happened in his life, he allowed God to use it to make his life better. How have you allowed God to use your unfortunate circumstances to make your life better?
God, thanks for the great example of this man who allowed You to work everything for his good. St Paulinus of Nola, pray for us.
