St Isidore the Farmer and Blessed Maria Torribia: Just Plain Good People

Today we read about a delightful couple named Isidore and Maria in the book In Caelo et in Terra.  They were a simple farming couple who were holy just by living a simple life and loving people.

St Isidore would often go to mass even when he should be doing chores, and tradition says one time he came back from mass and an angel was plowing the field for him. They would bring poor people home to eat with them, and when they ran out of food, St Isidore would ask Maria, "Check the pot again," and there would miraculously be more food.

You can read more about them here.

But the take home lesson is that even if God doesn't make an obvious miracle happen, He DOES make things just happen to work out when we're generous. We can't be more generous than God. That goes for your time, money, energy, love.... whatever you give, God will outgive you.

I promise.

God, thanks for the wonderful and simple example of these two adorable farmers. St Isidore and Blessed Maria, pray for us.
