what's past is past

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Jeremiah 31:27-32:44. God tells us that He has deliberately broken down their city in the past, but now He will be just as deliberately building them back up.

God doesn't bring sadness, pain, and suffering into our lives for no reason. Anytime we suffer, we can learn from it and become better people. We can allow our suffering to transform us into saints. All we have to do is ask God to use our suffering to make us better people. The choice is yours - you're GOING to suffer, there's no way out of it. But will your suffering make you better, or will it make you bitter?

God, thanks for deliberately breaking us down so that You can build us back up correctly.
