Today we read from 1 Chronicles 7:1-8:40 in the One Year Bible. Briefly mentioned in the genealogy is a woman named Sheerah, who builds the towns of Lower and Upper Beth-horon and Uzzen-sheerah. Notice that last one bears her name. Kind of cool to see a woman prominently mentioned in a story that is most often patriarchal. Here is some background and reflection on Sheerah.
