Today we read from 1 Chronicles 5:18-6:81 in the One Year Bible. We read that three tribes of Israel were captured by the Assyrians and taken away into exile as slaves.

What a horrible fate! People like to say that the Bible endorses slavery, but it's hard to justify that position when the heroes of the story get taken as slaves by a foreign power.

But they cried out to God in their slavery and He heard their cry and rescued them.

He hears your cry, too, and will rescue you from whatever slavery you've got yourself wrapped up in.
