you are enough, O King
Today we read from 2 Samuel 19:11-20:13 in the One Year Bible. David returns victorious, and his lame friend Mephibosheth is late in welcoming him back to his kingdom. Everyone thinks David is going to be mad, but David understands the predicament and pardons him.
Mephibosheth is so grateful and happy, and when David offers him a huge parcel of land as his inheritance, he says something that we can all learn from. He says, "I am content just to have you back again, my Lord the King!"
Let's keep that in mind next time we see someone get something we want. Let's be grateful like Mephibosheth, and say to God, "I'm just glad to have you, my Lord the King!"
God, thanks for teaching us to be grateful.
