fooling God

Today we read from 1 Kings 14:1-15:24 in the One Year Bible. Jeroboam tries to fool Ahijah, the prophet of God, by having his wife dress up and ask him a question. God sees through this ruse (of course) and tells Ahijah what to say.

I wish it were true that this was a unique story in the history of man. But many of us still try to fool God today, don't we? We pretend to be His follower, but we treat His children very badly. We hate our neighbors and our enemies, and we don't take care of the least of these, even though we KNOW that what we do for them we are actually doing for Him.

Let's learn to do better. And asking Him for help is a great place to start.

God, please help us to love You faithfully and not try to fool You.
