remember what He's done... and be quiet

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from 1 Samuel 12:1-13:23. Samuel lays down the smack for the children of Israel. He tells them, "OK, you've got the king you asked for. But before I go, stand there quietly while I tell you all the things God has done for you."

And the he does. He reminds them of the goodness of God, and how tenderly He has taken care of them over time. It would do us good to do the same. Be quiet, and think about all the good that God has done for you. It will make you grateful, and it will push you toward being patient and kind with your neighbors.

God, thanks for being so kind to us that it makes us kind, too.
