our role in the world
Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Numbers 14:1-15:16. Moses intercedes for the people of Israel, who test God's patience with their constant complaining.
We should learn two very important lessons from this. First, let's not test God's patience with OUR constant complaining. We're human, and He knows this. But we should try to be patient with Him as He works everything for our good, and not complain and gripe every time something doesn't happen the way we want it to.
Second, we need to remember to intercede for the people of this world, during OUR time, because they test God's patience, too. And they have more excuse than the people of Israel, because most of them have never seen God perform miracles like the Israelites did. Moses still asked God to spare them, even though they saw His miracles and still complained and didn't trust Him. But most people today haven't seen His miracles, so let's pray for them, that they'll come to know Him.
God, thanks for teaching us good lessons from Moses's example.
