Today we read from Genesis 48:1-49:33 in the One Year Bible. Jacob pulls one last stunt before he passes away, and gives the main blessing to Joseph's younger child. Being the younger child himself, you can kind of guess why he did it.
But you find pranksters throughout the Bible and in the lives of the saints. There was a saint who lived during the Nazi persecution who used to dress up as a clown in order to avoid detection. He pulled many stunts before finally being caught and killed by the Nazis.
God seems to appreciate a good sense of humor, and someone who does what we least expect. So don't be afraid to be yourself... even if that self is a little wily.
God, thanks for giving us the wily pranksters to keep things interesting.
