you're going to die. don't be afraid.

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Genesis 46:1-47:31. God appears to Jacob in a dream and tells him not to be afraid to go to Egypt. And then He tells him that he is going to die in Egypt.

That seems kind of mixed up, doesn't it? "Don't be afraid. You're going to die."

But that might very well be the most important lesson we will learn in life. It's very important that we come to terms with the fact that we WILL in fact die one day. But it's also crucial that we learn not to be afraid. To trust Him to be with us and see us through the fact of our death.

So God is speaking to YOU through tonight's verse. You are going to die. Don't be afraid.

God, thanks for reminding us of the facts of life... and that we shouldn't be afraid when You're with us.
