who the angels worship
Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Hebrews 1:1-14. Paul tells us that we know that Jesus is above the angels because the angels are commanded to worship Him.
That's pretty amazing stuff when you think about it. I mean, today we accept and believe that Jesus is God. So of course He's above the angels... He created them. But to think of angels worshiping someone. That's powerful. Angels are amazing beings that will live forever, and each angel is a separate species. They are all unique and have their own intellect and decision making abilities. And they're commanded by God the Father to worship God the Son. And in perfect obedience (imperfect obedience would be sinful) they worship Him.
Let's join the angels today in worshiping Jesus. He is worthy of our honor and praise and glory. So let's not neglect to give it to Him. We will find great delight and meaning in doing so - it's our highest calling.
God, thanks for showing us that even the angels worship You. Help us to do the same, however imperfectly we do it now.
