failure is good for you
Today in the One Year Bible, we read from 1 Timothy 3:1-16. Paul tells us that it's better if new believers don't become "elders" (or deacons) in the church, because they might fall into pride.
Why is that? What is it about new believers that they're prone to fall into pride? Well, many things. But the primary one is that they haven't failed yet. Failing is very important to being a kind, loving, humble person. Because if everything you do goes right, it's tempting to think "I'm the best. If only other people could be more like me..." and to look down on those who fail.
But when YOU fail, you realize how easy it is to fall into. It gives you compassion and patience for those who fail over and over. Who struggle with life in general.
So don't be afraid to fail. It's good for you.
God, thanks for using our failures to make us better people.
