make like Taylor Swift

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Acts 18:1-22. Paul is teaching the Jewish people in Corinth, and many of them came to believe in Jesus and the gospel. But others opposed and insulted Paul. So he made like Taylor Swift and shook it off. The Bible says he "shook the dust from his clothes" and said they were on their own now.

And that brings us to the quote in the pic above. When you've given your best answer to someone, and they still reject it and argue with you and won't hear sense, sometimes the only thing you can do is make like Taylor. Leave them in their ignorance, and focus your efforts on people who ARE receptive to what God is doing.

Of course, we want to say a prayer that those obstinate people will come around eventually. But beating your head against the wall with someone who isn't listening can be a waste of time when there are lots of others who are eager to hear and accept the truth.

God, thanks for giving us the wisdom to know when to make like Taylor and shake it off.
