Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Acts 19:13-41. In this passage, seven sons of Sceva try to use the name of Jesus to control some demons. And they aren't keen on being controlled.
It's important to remember that the enemy is real. Satan and all of the demons are really out there, and dabbling in things having to do with them is a bad idea. Ouija boards, seances, Tarot cards... all of these things open up your life to the dark side of the spiritual realm. If someone tells you it's just harmless fun, or that there is some good in it... just walk away.
There's no reason to be afraid of our enemy. He is already defeated. But we DO need to respect him, and take him and his followers seriously, because they will do what they can do mess up our lives.
God, thanks for reminding us that the devil is real. Help us keep our focus on You.
