before everything changes

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Matthew 28:1-20. Mary and Mary go to the tomb, and they're preparing to anoint His body for burial. It's the darkest moment of their lives. They've lost all the hope they had in Jesus being the Messiah. They were lost and alone and afraid.

And then. Everything changed. Without them even doing anything or realizing it, nothing was ever the same again. Jesus was alive, and that's all that mattered.

In our lives, we face dark times. You might be going through one right now. One of my best friends told me today that 2018 was the worst year in their life. For me, 2016 was the worst. All of us struggle through dark times. But when we put our faith in God, He will turn things around.

Sometimes it does take a little time. We need to heal. We need to get over a certain relationship. We have to come to terms with losing our job. But then He brings us to a better place.

If you're still struggling through a dark time, hang in there. Keep praying. Keep seeking Him. He'll lead you out of that darkness - and He'll change everything. What ultimately matters is that Jesus is alive. And that changes everything.

God, thanks for being there for us to trust - and for bringing us out of our darkness.
