preparing the way

Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Mark 1:1-28. John the Baptist is telling everyone to repent of their sins and turn to God, to prepare the way for Jesus to come and tell them what they should do.

Not much has changed from then to now. We still need, every day, to turn from those sins we fall into so easily, and turn to God, and prepare ourselves for what Jesus is wanting to do in our lives.

Is He doing all He wants to do in your life? Do you sense that there's more that maybe He wants to do with you? In you?

Ask Him to identify any sins that you might have missed. Lift your heart to God. That, said many saints, is all prayer really is: lifting our hearts to God. What we say is secondary. But turn away from your sins, lift your heart to God...and watch what Jesus does in your life.

God, thanks for keeping things the same: from John's time to now. Help us turn from our sins... and turn to You, to see what You have in store for us.
