Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Revelation 12:1-17. We read an amazing story about a dragon that sweeps evil angels out of heaven with its tail, and then stands in front of a wonderful, holy woman, trying to devour her baby as soon as it's born. But, as we see in Tolkien, eagles' wings carry her to safety.
This story speaks to us in the deep places of our psyches. And what it tells us is that even though our lives will have struggles, and there will be fear and pain... it will all come right in the end. God will be victorious, and those who love Him and stand firm will be rewarded.
So we can have confidence in Him. We can trust that there will be a happy ending. And we can know that there is meaning behind the things that seem out of control in this world.
Thank You, God, for giving us hope.
