Today in the One Year Bible, we read from Colossians 1:1-17. Paul tells us where our love comes from.
He says that he is hearing reports that the people living in Colossae were well known for how much they loved people. That would be a pretty great thing to be known for, wouldn't it? And Paul goes on to point out why they're able to love so freely.
They have hope that grows from their destination. They hope to go to heaven when they die, and that hope becomes a fount of love that flows out of them and touches the lives of those around them.
We have other reasons to love, too, of course. But the one that doesn't change on us - doesn't run dry - is this same hope.
God, thanks for giving us the blessed hope of eternal life. Please make it a source of never ending love in our lives.
