our true enemy

Today we read in the One Year Bible from Psalm 3: 1-8. We have started over in the Psalms, since it's the middle of the year. That's the nice thing about the One Year Bible - you read through the Psalms and Proverbs twice!

So today, we read about being surrounded by enemies who make fun of us and taunt us that God is not going to help. And this is true for all of us.

Because our enemy is not other people. That's what the verse in the pic above means. We don't fight against people. God wants those people to be saved from their sins, and from the real enemy - our ancient foe, Satan and his followers. We fight against "principalities and powers", meaning we are struggling against the spirit of the age, the dark powers that have enslaved our fellow human beings. It's important to keep that in mind - because God wants to save them. Don't make them your enemy - love them, and make them your friends. And by all means, save some.

God, thank You for showing us who our real enemy is. Help us to love our fellow humans.
