what will you make of yours?
In today's readings from the Bible, which you can listen to HERE for the Old Testament and HERE for the New, we read about a lineage. (Click HERE if you want to hear someone else read it.) We read a list of people who are born, have children, and die. That's what is recorded about them, and that's all. Now don't get me wrong, I would love to be in the Bible even if that's all it said about me. But one name stands out... Enoch "walked with God" and then the Bible doesn't say he died, it says that he "was no more, for God took him."
Now we're not totally sure what that means. But it does stand out. Enoch was different from the others in the list. He walked with God. And God apparently liked him, because He took him.
You have around 70 years to do something with your life, right? We all do. How will yours stand out? If someone wrote about you, would they say you "walk with God"? Do you imagine that God is interested in "taking" you? How can you live your life today so that you ARE closer to Him? How can you make your life stand out?
God, thank You for giving us examples. Help us to be inspired by them, and to make our lives different.
