Yeah That Wasn't the Problem: One Year Bible Reading for June 19

Today we read from these verses in the One Year Bible:

1 Kings 20:1-21:29
Acts 12:24-13:15
Psalm 137:1-9
Proverbs 17:16

Let's look at this AMAZING proverb! It reflects a really popular meme today. It says, "Why should fools have money to buy wisdom when they aren't able to understand it?"

Mic Drop.

The popular meme is the one that says that we used to think that the problem with most people is they didn't have access to information. But now that we ALL have access to the interwebs, we realize that wasn't the problem at all. We now all carry a device in our pocket that literally has access to all of the accumulated wisdom and knowledge on the planet. And we use it to look at cat pics & porn, and to argue with strangers about things that largely don't matter.

Now let's look at the solution to the problem. It's found in James 1:5. It's a promise directly from God. It says if anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask. And God will give it to them."

Just ask! I ask everyday. That's why I'm a little wiser than I used to be (though not nearly as wise as I need to be, so I'm still asking.)

God, thanks for teaching us that we need wisdom.
